Since 2003, we have led fundraising efforts to find a cure for Frontotemporal Dementia. Our operations help fund critical research and resources towards a cure.

Our Mission

We are working to help find a cure for Frontotemporal Dementia. We create events, experiences, and opportunities for giving to this cause with our partner organizations and others.

OUR STORY

The Open Hand Foundation was founded by Charles Khalil in support of his wife, Kaaren Reid Khalil, who was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia in 2003. Charles and Kaaren created a beautiful family of 5 children together, Leila, Jacque, Monika, Kellee, and Jirard.

2003 marked the first annual Convenience Cup Challenge golf tournament. Kaaren lost her brave battle with FTD in 2013, and in her honor the foundation continues to operate and raise money to support research and education.
